Valentines Day: Strawberry Hearts

January 12, 2015 By Jackie Fo 6 Comments

So I just made an amazing discovery, just in time for Valentines Day! Did you know that if you cut a strawberry in half and maneuver it a little bit, it looks like a heart? It’s an all natural accoutrement, does it get any better than that? It’s perfect for garnishing cocktails or serving as a fruit skewer.

To make your very own strawberry hearts, all you do is cut off the stem of a strawberry like so:

Slice the strawberry in half lengthwise:

And cut out a little piece in the middle to form a heart!

Now that you’ve discovered this, you can do a plethora of things like serve strawberry heart skewers for your Valentine’s Day breakfast. Tie the end of the skewer with a pretty ribbon to finish off the look.

Garnish a glass of bubbly with a strawberry heart like this:

Or make delicious and edible drink stirrers like these!

I mean how freaking cute are these, right? Maybe you guys already knew about the whole strawberry heart shaped thing…I can be a little slow on the uptick as they say 🙂 Off to watch Golden Globes Fashion Police…my fave was Kate Beckinsale and Julianne Moore…how about you??

    Super cute and creative!
As far as the award show, i didn’t watch live but totally looked up who wore what late that evening. Emma Stone was by far my fave. 🙂

Now I want some champagne with a strawberry heart! Those are adorable…I wonder if they would hold shape when baked. Can you imagine the possibilities with pastry?

That’s super interesting, I will have to try that…I wonder why not? Can you imagine a tart with those strawberry hearts on top? Maybe if you put them on at the end of baking they will hold their shape?
